Studio Manager
Intermission Film is on the lookout for a Studio Manager to work within our Motion Design department. The Studio Manager will play a key role in keeping our motion design studio running smoothly. You’ll oversee scheduling and resourcing, making sure projects are managed efficiently from start to finish. Acting as the link between the production team, Operations, Edit Support and the studio, you’ll ensure every job is booked in with the right deadlines and information. You’ll also spot opportunities to improve workflows and systems, working closely with the right teams to put solutions in place.
This role is full-time office-based.
What you'll be doing...
- Daily management of workflow within Motion Design.
- Ensure all teams globally are working collaboratively, ensuring correct software/ templates are created, shared, and implemented.
- Create and maintain up to date workflows for all staff, freelancers, and suppliers, ensuring consistency of standards.
- Liaise daily with the production team, attending relevant morning meetings, to set work priorities for each day.
- Assigning jobs to designers, making sure they are clear on notes and briefs
- Work closely with Motion Design Creative Directors to ensure projects are assigned to the most appropriate designers, leveraging team strengths while fostering individual growth and development.
- Project management, including checking briefs, materials, and deadlines, and liaising with producers on any issues.
- Responsible for planning and booking all freelance requirements and ensuring this is clearly mapped in the company calendars.
- Ensure freelancers are clearly informed of their designated machine, enabling a smooth start to their working day.
- Ensuring all freelancer contracts and NDAs are completed and saved to the correct folders, and raising POs.
- Ensuring all designers' timesheets are completed and studio hours are logged weekly.
- Working with the Operations department to ensure costs are communicated and records are kept against budgets.
- Managing and approving holiday requests, and sickness absences, and communicating with the wider team.
- Responsibility over the lifecycle of a job within the studio, including server management, project archiving, and storage.
- Oversight of all licenses and software used by Motion Studio.
- Oversee the setup, maintenance, and optimisation of studio equipment, working closely with the team while continuously seeking opportunities to improve workflows and reduce inefficiencies.
- Helping cover production work when needed
What we need from you...
- At least 3 years project management experience preferably in a Motion Design or Print Studio environment.
- Creative mind set and a good understanding of motion design workflows.
- Working knowledge and experience in creative cloud applications such as Photoshop, After Effects and Illustrator.
- Previous line management experience.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organisation skills along with strong attention to detail.
- Collaborative with the ability to work well as part of a team and create strong working relationships.
- Excellent time management with the ability to manage several projects simultaneously and keep a level head under pressure in a reactive environment with quick turnaround times.
