Edit Assistant
We are looking for an ambitious and dedicated Edit Assistant with at least two years industry experience to join a passionate team of creatives in the Amsterdam office of an award-winning film and entertainment agency.
Working on several projects simultaneously, this Edit Assist will require self-motivation, excellent time management and the discipline to cope with fast turnarounds and hard deadlines. They will need to be an excellent communicator liaising between editorial and production, whilst appreciating the importance of security and responsibility for the media being managed.
This role is based in-house in our Amsterdam office. After training, you’ll join a weekly rotating shift pattern (between 8am–10pm), working with the wider global edit support team to ensure support is always covered across time zones.
What you'll be doing...
- Ingest and transcode media, manage footage across various formats, and organise assets for offline editing workflows.
- Sync audio tracks, create sync maps for multi-camera shoots, and align stems to picture accurately.
- Export assets in multiple codecs and containers, ensuring they met project-specific technical specifications.
- Prepare finishing materials from locked sequences for distribution across different departments in final post-production stages.
- Prepare and conform media for online editing through manual cutting, overpasting, or relinking to native files.
- Support VFX workflows by providing high-resolution plates from locked spots to the internal motion graphics team.
- Manage multiple deliverable formats and resize footage to meet various social media aspect ratios and platform requirements.
- Set up projects for both offline and online editing, maintaining organised folder structures and project files.
- Conduct thorough quality control (QC) checks on all work, upholding high standards and taking ownership of deliverables.
- Utilise editorial storage systems such as EditShare and Nearline, managing workspaces and permissions efficiently.
- Archive completed projects using various storage solutions, including LTO, cloud-based platforms, and other systems.
- Collaborate with global teams, manage tasks independently, and consistently meet deadlines.
- Troubleshoot technical issues related to software and hardware, escalating problems when necessary.
- Maintain effective communication between edit assistants, production teams, and other internal departments.
- Stay informed of industry technologies and workflows to enhance support across the business.
- Provide guidance and local training to freelancers on bespoke workflows and processes.
What we need from you...
- Experience with Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere Pro, and DaVinci Resolve.
- Two years industry experience minimum.
- A solid understanding of video formats, codecs, aspect ratios, audio configuration, frame rates, camera rushes and folder structures.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving, working closely with the Edit Assistants and Technical team to solve technical issues.
- Highly organised and reliable, with strong time management skills.
- Ability to excel in fast-paced environments, working independently or as part of a team.
